Equip the Bearing Finder and Shovel in your hotbar at the bottom of your character inventory.
Select the Bearing Finder, your character will equip it in his hand. To activate the Bearing Finder left-click with the mouse.
When activated you will hear light radio static. you are now searching.
Walk around the map, until the Bearing finder emits a beeping sound, and the light begins to glow. NOTE: running will deactivate the bearing finder. you MUST walk (see tips below).
The Bearing finder will Begin to Beep when you are within 100m of a hidden stash. Walk towards the beeping sound, You may need to rotate left or right as you get closer to the stash.
As you get closer the beeping and flashing light will get faster. When the Beep becomes a solid tone and the bearing Finder Light is solid, it is time to start digging!
Switch from the Bearing Finder to your Shovel, look at the ground and press F to dig.
If you are close enough to the Hidden Stash, it will appear in front of you.
Once uncovered the hidden stash can be opened and looted as normal. The uncovered stash can be one of several different style of boxes (see Examples on right)
Hidden Stashes most frequently spawn outside POI's and will not spawn inside Safe Zones.
If you are not close enough to a Hidden Stash when digging you will not uncover the stash. Use the Bearing Finder again to make sure you are at the very centre of the signal and try again.
To cover ground faster it is a good idea to run 50-100m, stop and activate the bearing finder briefly and if no signal is detected run and repeat until a stash is discovered.
Instead of running around randomly, use your bearing finder when you are moving to a specific location eg from Northern Safe Zone to Southern Safe Zone or towards a Mission/Event.
