Many items in Deadside require different blueprints and base items to be crafted, with blueprints being a huge part of progression in the game. For new players this system may seem difficult, but this guide will break it down for you. The overall concept isn't very complicated, but progression still takes time.
On the top left side of your inventory screen is the blueprints tab. This menu shows your blueprint progression organized by the machine used for crafting. There are three main tiers; the Workbench is the first tier with early game items, the Advanced Workbench is the second tier for mid game items, and the CNC Machine has your end game items. The Ammo Bench and Explosives Table also fall into the mid to late game. So if you are just starting for the first time, focus on unlocking Workbench blueprints first.

There are two ways of unlocking blueprints. You can find them inside of loot boxes, or you can learn them using the Research Table. You need to find or learn a blueprint 5-10 times for the recipe to be unlocked, so its best to use both methods for fast progression.
Finding blueprints is the simplest method, you can loot the broken down cars on the side of the road, or complete missions for better blueprints. Once you have read through this guide, visit the Finding Blueprints page to learn all the different ways to find blueprints in the world.
Learning blueprints with a Research Table at your base can be very useful. Items placed into the Research Table are consumed and converted into the corresponding blueprint. This means if you find an item in the world that you would like to craft, you can convert it into a blueprint to speed up that process. For example if you find a PU scope, you can place it into the table and convert it into its blueprint. For some items however there are additional rules. For example to learn the recipe for 5.56, a full stack of 300 is converted into a single blueprint. Any less than 300 and you will be unable to convert it in the table. For items with durability, that will be taken into consideration as well. For example a weapon at 50% durability will have a 50% chance to be converted into a blueprint. So its best to repair the item if you aren't willing to gamble on losing it.
The blueprint level of weapons and armor can be leveled up 5 times, with each level unlocking a potential upgrade for the item. Once the blueprint is leveled up, you can place the item into the Upgrade Station to apply buffs to the item. Materials are required for each level of upgrade. Many blueprints will be required to reach the highest level, for example you will need 60 AK-mod blueprints to unlock level 5. If you are able to gather the materials and blueprints, you will be rewarded with a more powerful item.
