The M99 is an extremely rare, extremely powerful high tier Sniper Rifle, chambered in the 50 “BGM” cartridge, that will always instantly kill whatever it hits. Always. This weapon is long, slow, and heavy, with an absurd ADS time, and an even longer reload. However, that won't matter, because whatever you shot at most likely just stopped existing. That is if you hit your shot, the 50cal bullet travels a bit slower than 7.62x54R, and drops more, making it slightly more difficult to learn. The ammo itself is also pretty rare, only dropping from Missions, or purchased from Roaming Traders, 4K for only a stack of 10 bullets. Because of the limited ammo, the M99 is best used in a PvP setting, where you will get the most out of each shot. Its still useful in PvE against small numbers of difficult AI, like Heli Guards or Cargo Bosses, but anything outside of that is simply just unreasonable considering how much each bullet costs, and how little players typically carry. Even still, the ability that this weapon has, to kill anything, at any range, with any gear, is something no other weapon in Deadside comes even close to doing. The noise players fear more than any other, is the single shot of an M99.
This weapon shares the same 4 static spawn points as the VSD, however it is extremely rare to find one there. You are better off trying to complete Medium Missions to get this weapon than to farm those static spawns.
The M99 is based off the real life Barrett Model 99, and does a good job in representing the sheer power of these large rifles.
This weapon can only be purchased from a Roaming Trader. They can spawn in a Heli Crash, Cargo Drop, Bunker Crate, or the reward in a Medium, Hard, or Epic Mission.
This weapon is repaired with a Tier 2 Sniper Repair Kit
