PvE Events are one of the main gameplay mechanics of Deadside, and provide the player a challenge to complete for a reward. There are many different types of events, ranging in multiple levels of rewards and difficulty. Most events have enemy AI that fight the player, while others simply drop loot into an area. These events are typically the main way players will get loot, therefore a significant amount of your time in Deadside will most likely be focused on these events in one way or another. This also means, the majority of PvP happens as a result of multiple players showing up to the same event. So, these events have a large amount of risks associated with them, in some cases the PvE can be very difficult. If you are playing on a PvP server, then other players will be a huge factor to deal with during these events. The risk does come with large rewards though, these events are without a doubt the best way, if not the only way to get high tier loot, depending on the type of event you are trying to complete.
Events will periodically spawn around the map depending on a few factors. On most servers, the amount of events spawned in will be different depending on the amount of players logged in. So for example, if there are only 10-15 players in a server, not that many events will spawn. In a full 50/50 server, many events will spawn due to the increased player count. Community run servers have the ability to turn this feature off if they like, so if you are playing on one, this might not be the case. However this feature will always be active on official servers, as there are no admins there.
When an event spawns, three things will happen. First, you will hear a sound notification, then you will see a message pop up on the top left side of your screen. This message will let you know what type of event is now available. For example, “New Trader Detected." There will also be a colored square in the top left, that can also help identify what type of event spawned, usually it will be red or yellow. This “Sector Activity” message system is also used for different messages in the game, and is not limited to just event spawns. For example, you will get a message with a green square letting you know when you have entered a safe zone. When an event spawns, you will also see an orange message in side chat, that will say the same thing as the “Sector Activity" message. This is so you can look back and see what event was spawned in case you missed the first message. Lastly, if you open the map with the “M" key, an icon for the new event will be on the map. This icon will be at the event location, and serves to direct you there. Below is an example of some icons on the map;
When the event has ended, another message will appear in both side chat and the top left of your screen, letting you know that the event is no longer available. In the case that an event is completed, this only applies to missions, the same thing will happen, except the message will read as completed instead of unavailable.
There are many different types of events in Deadside, with more to come in the future. This is just a simple list and overview of each event, if you would like more detail, go to the specific event page.
Mission:
There are 4 types of Missions in Deadside, Easy Missions, Medium Missions, Hard Missions, and Epic Missions. They all function the same however, the only difference is the difficulty, and quality of reward. The objective of these missions are simple, go to the area marked on the map, Missions are always marked with red markers. At the location will be many hostile AI, kill them all to complete the mission. Once completed, there will be a highlighted reward crate in the mission area with loot inside.
Cargo Drop:
A Helicopter will fly to a location in the map and drop a cargo crate full of loot. The crate will be marked on the map, and the objective of the player is to be the first to grab the loot inside. The loot can range from mid to very high quality gear.
Heli Crash:
A Crashed Helicopter and 3-5 heavily armed guards will spawn on the map. The guards are extremely dangerous, and one of the most difficult AI to fight in the game. There is a crate located on the left side of the Heli, located under the wing. This crate contains very high tier gear. The events typically spawn in open areas, and are very risky.
Convoy:
A group of military bots, and one heavily armed boss will spawn somewhere on the map, and begin patrolling down a path. The military bots on their own are not that difficult, however the convoy boss is arguably the hardest AI in the game. There are 2 main types of bosses, one wearing Heavy Assault Armor and using an MG36, and other wearing a full Ghillie Suit using a VSD or Mosin. Once the boss is killed, a case is dropped. When a player grabs this case, a notification is sent to the entire server which player has the case. There is a yellow circle on the map that will follow the case wherever it goes. In order to open the case, the player needs to take it to a Safe Zone. The case always drops weapon attachments, typically pistol suppressors, however it is the only way to get M3 Muzzle Breaks.
Roaming Trader:
This is the only event that offers no loot as a reward. Instead, a trader will appear on the map, offering unique deals. There are two types, and Equipment Trader, and Weapons Trader. The Equipment Trader will sell high tier armor and backpacks for high prices, and will buy armor and clothing for 2x the price of a normal trader. The Weapons Trader will sell all the high tier weapons in the game for very high prices, as well as some rare weapon attachments. They will also buy weapons and weapon attachments for 2x the price of a normal trader. This provides players an opportunity to use some of their money to get high tier items, or to sell extra items they have stocked up for a huge amount of profit. The Traders are not in a Safe Zone however, so players risk being camped or killed while interacting with the trader.
