Hard Missions offer a good balance between Hard PvE, and frequent PvP. While there are other Events with more loot and challenge to offer, this one can still be extremely fun, and reasonably accessible for most players.
This mission for players looking to move into the late game, or for players already in the late game. The AI is Military only, and they will be very quick to punish any mistakes the player makes. Unlike the Medium or Easy Missions, the Hard Mission AI has good aim, they use good weapons, and they appear in even larger numbers. As with most things in Deadside though, the risk comes with a good reward. Hard Missions almost always drop high tier items, lots of money, and other assorted high level items and gear. The locations are almost all in Military or Industrial areas. Because of this, generally they are farther away from respawn towns, adding to the challenge. Players showing up to these events typically have decent gear, and will often be running in groups, so PvP is to be expected.
Hard Missions are a big step up from a Medium or Easy Mission, and players must be prepared for the added difficulty. That's not to say these missions are impossible without good gear and a team, a skilled solo player can clear any event in the game no problem as a fresh spawn. However, having decent gear or a teammate can make these missions much easier. The AI is Military only, and they will be using good weapons. Some of them will be using using Mosins, which will very easily kill an unarmored player from a long distance away. The AI will be typically seen be using AK platform weapons to very good effect, they are decently accurate and can drop a player in a few short bursts. So, completing this mission demands that a player sticks to good cover, and that the player can deal with the rush of deadly bots. The Mission is most dangerous at the start, since there are the most bots alive at one time. When a player opens fire, many bots will push the player at once, and if the player is not prepared, it can very easily and quickly end their attempt. Because of this, a popular method for clearing the AI, is to sit far away with a sniper and a scope. From there, you can pick off the AI while being outside of their effective range. Once the first few initial waves of AI have been cleared, the mission becomes much more manageable, as the player has more breathing room to work with. The challenge after that, becomes PvP.
PvP at these missions is much different than PvP at a Medium or Easy Mission. The players showing up to these missions are more likely to be experienced players, with good gear. That's not to say you wont see any fresh spawns though, in fact they become more of a problem as the mission goes on. As more Military AI are killed, there will be many Military weapons laying on the floor for fresh spawns to pick up. With all that in mind, its easy to see why Hard Missions can be difficult for newer players, or for players with less gear to work with. One of the challenges of these missions is dealing with both the AI and enemy players at once, and as a result of that, you will see players grouping up more often to tackle these types of events. Its also very common for players to stick outside of the mission area and wait for the mission itself to end before pushing in. From there, they can contest the mission reward without having to deal with any AI. They will also have the added information from the shots of the person who actually did complete the mission. So, keep your head on a swivel, learn the layout of the mission areas, and position yourself well for the coming fight.
Just like any other mission, the objective is to go to the location marked on the map, and kill all the AI. Then the reward will spawn inside the mission area, with a blue outline and checkmark visible through walls;
With the added challenge, comes a big bump in reward quality. Hard Missions almost always drop good high tier weapons, healing, money, and sometimes armor and bags. Its still possible to get a poor reward crate similar to that of a Medium Mission, however its unlikely. Hard Missions are one of the best ways to get money in Deadside, second only to an Epic Mission of course.
